If you thought you knew how unoriginal the Gimmes are, think again. These lazy bastards only do cover songs, that we all know, but the boys have pushed the concept way beyond the known limits of punk lazyness. Everything about the band was stolen somewhere. They couldn't even come up with an original name for fuck's sake... Yep, "Me First and the Gimme Gimmes" is the title of a story book for troubled kids (which we all are or were...) by Gerald G. Jampolsky and Diane V. Cirincione. Here's what a reader has to say about this book :

"The Gimme Gimmes are a selfish bunch, and it is not until they nearly destroy their world and themselves by being so selfish that they begin to realize that there must be a better way, and that is to share and to love one another more than themselves."

Yeah, after destroying their livers in the comfort of their homes and cosy bars, the Gimmes realized it would be more fun to get wasted on stage and love Me First and the Gimme Gimmes more than the other bands they're in.

So their name was stolen, but what else? Everything! They used forgotten records' covers, entire parts of punk rock songs... They probably also steal their outfits and booze. The idea of the time machine is to take you through a journey during which you'll discover what ripping other people's work off really means.
