The Sainte Catherines + Me First And The Gimme Gimmes
So after visiting the Bevrijdingsfestival I arrived
at the Melkweg to meet up with Noowaag, who recorded the show again,
made these great pics and a great movie which is now also available
at Europunk...We were very early, had to wait 30 minutes for the Sainte
Catherines...They were better as I expected, they were ok. I don't know
what kind of style it was but they had 3 guitarplayers and a bass player.
Last time I've watched a show close to the boxes, my left ear was destroyed
after their 30 minutes set.
So up next, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes. First thing
coming to mind is how fucked up is a sold out Melkweg. Way too busy
on the floor, too busy to be in the pit, too busy to stand in the back,
too loud sound to stand close to the boxes, always something...But their
show, much better as on Groezrock. The good jokes were back and they
seemed more energetic. The only thing I missed was the second encore
after 10 minutes...The Blues Brothers song was very cool, Ghostriders
In The Sky...It was a new song I think...The other new one was Desperado
by The Eagles. The last song End Of The Road was pretty funny when Joey
Cape's part came and he began his lines with 'Hey Hamburg'. He just
laughed during the rest of his lines...'I have such a radical future
in front of me...' Funniest band ever.
